Bajel Projects Formalises Landmark 500 kV Transmission Line Agreement with EETC in Cairo
Mumbai, July 23, 2026: Bajel Projects Limited, a leading power transmission EPC company under the Bajaj Group, has formalised an agreement with the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) for the construction of two contiguous sections—Lot 1 and Lot 5—of a 500 kV Overhead Transmission Line (OHTL). The contract was signed during an official ceremony in Cairo, Bajel Projects said in a press release.
The agreement was executed by Rajesh Ganesh, Managing Director & CEO of Bajel Projects Limited, in the presence of Suresh K. Reddy, Ambassador of India to the Arab Republic of Egypt, alongside senior dignitaries from both nations. The signing was attended by Eng. Mona Rezk, Chairman of EETC, and Eng. Ahmed Fathy, Head of the Central Projects Sector at EETC, underscoring the diplomatic and economic weight of the collaboration.
Valued at over ₹400 crore, the combined ultra-mega order forms a key part of Egypt’s flagship national grid reinforcement programme. The project is designed to strengthen the country’s high-voltage power transmission backbone, facilitating reliable energy evacuation to support expanding economic and industrial requirements across the region.
Speaking on the occasion, Rajesh Ganesh, Managing Director & CEO, Bajel Projects Limited, said: “Winning these orders is a defining moment for Bajel Projects. The agreement further consolidates Bajel Projects’ position as an international EPC player in high-voltage transmission, supplementing its domestic order book and expanding global portfolio. The win builds on the company’s established presence in the MENA region, which includes a 50:50 joint venture with the Al Sharif Group in Saudi Arabia and the recent establishment of its Abu Dhabi subsidiary, Bajel T & D PROJECTS AND CONTRACTING.
The ceremony highlighted the deepening economic ties between India and Egypt, emphasizing the expanding role of Indian engineering and infrastructure firms in driving power sector modernization throughout the Middle East and North Africa.
