Increase Digitization A Source For Consumer Satisfaction: Dr. Jitender Singh At PHD Chamber

Minister of State PMO, Dr. Jitender Singh on Thursday informed that in the last three years, the government of the day has been able to make all official communication and even their records of filing in the digital form in its 34 ministries in which there is hardly any usage of paper and the move would gradually intensify to completely digitalize all the government communications and records.

Addressing at a World Consumer Rights Day-2018 under aegis of PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry here today, Dr. Singh emphasized that with increasing digitization the consumers would find that their grievances would be better and timely entertained through e-communication mode rather than approaching consumer fora.

Digital channel of communication is faster and perfectly updated and therefore, the government machinery should take advantage of the information published in such mode and avoid consumer fora since in these many a time the information is not at all updated.

The Minister gave away the Awards for best consumer friendly states which included State of Andhra Pradesh, Goa, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Himachal Pradesh, Andman and Nicobar, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh and Odisha.

The consumer rights day 2018 was presided over by the President, PHD Chamber, Mr. Anil Khaitan who said that digital technology had transformed consumer experiences around the world. New types of services have shaken up traditional markets and consumers can buy products, access and add information and communicate with people on the other side of the world just the touch of a button.

Among others who also spoke on the occasion comprised Justice Arijit Pasayat, former Judge Supreme Court, who also chaired the Jury for the selection of the awards; Founder, Consumer Online Foundation, Mr. Bejon Misra; Advisor, Department of Consumer Affairs, Ms Sangeeta Verma. The eminent Jury comprised former ambassador to US, Mrs. Meera Shankar, Former Secretary, Mr. P P Shrivastav, Mrs Meenakshi Datta Ghosh and Mr. P C Jha, Ted. IRS.
