SOBHA Group Delivers 120 More Homes Under Griha SOBHA Phase III for Women-Led Families
Palakkad, March 25, 2026:
Sri Kurumba Educational and Charitable Trust, the philanthropic arm of the SOBHA Group, marked a major milestone in its social welfare mission today with the delivery of 120 new homes under Phase III of its Griha SOBHA project. The ceremony, held at the Sri Kurumba Auditorium in Moolamcode, brings the total number of completed homes to 350, following the successful handover of 230 units during the program’s first two phases.
According to a press release, the keys were formally presented to the beneficiaries by the Hon’ble Governor of Kerala, Sri Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar. The event was attended by senior leadership from SOBHA Limited, including Managing Director Jagadish Nangineni and Deputy Managing Director Nisanth M N, alongside Trust officials. Launched in 2022, the Griha SOBHA initiative aims to provide 1,000 high-quality, 700 sq. ft. 2 BHK residences to economically vulnerable, women-headed households by the year 2030.
Addressing the gathering, Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar praised the initiative as a benchmark for corporate philanthropy. “Everybody’s life has a purpose,” the Governor said, emphasizing that the true purpose of life is to share our fortune and earnings with others for the welfare of society. He noted that while sharing has always been part of the culture, it is less common today, adding that the initiative “reflects the dedication of Sri P. N. C. Menon and his family, who have committed half of their wealth for the welfare of society.” In his closing remarks, he stated that serving people is the truest way to serve God.
P.N.C. Menon, Founder of SOBHA Group, reiterated the project’s focus on long-term stability and quality. “GrihaSOBHA has been designed as a long-term effort to address the lack of secure housing among resource-limited women-led families, particularly in rural communities where this need is most acute. For us, this is not about building homes at scale, but about building them right — with ownership, quality, and permanence,” Menon said. He further explained that by ensuring ownership remains in the hands of women, the project creates a foundation for families to build their futures with dignity and confidence.
Beyond housing, the Trust unveiled a suite of community infrastructure and healthcare projects. These include a newly constructed Anganwadi building completed with a capital expenditure of Rs 82 Lakh and the restoration of the Idukavu pond at a cost of Rs 21 Lakh, both handed over to the Kizhakkenchery Panchayat. Additionally, the Group launched the ‘SOBHA Arogya Sparsham’ program, which will provide monthly dialysis support to 75 patients, and unveiled a new logo for the Trust to mark its evolving mission in rural Kerala.
Established in 1994, the Sri Kurumba Educational and Charitable Trust operates on a strictly transparent and secular basis, providing all services free of cost. The selection process for Griha SOBHA involves rigorous eligibility verification to ensure that the most vulnerable women-headed households are prioritized. This multi-faceted approach to education, health, and housing continues to serve as a model for integrated rural development within the Palakkad district and beyond.
