MCHI-Credai signs MoU with state Govt for affordable housing

MCHI – Credai on Wednesday inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Government of Maharashtra for affordable housing.
The MoU was signed by Shreekant Singh, Principal Secretary, Housing in the Government of Maharashtra, and Dharmesh Jain, President, MCHI – Credai in the presence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and state Housing Minister Prakash Mehta.
The objective of the MOU is to take immediate steps to encourage construction of more affordable housing and to address the housing deficit in the MMR.
Under the MOU, the immediate initiative would be to kick-start 5.69 Lakh affordable housing units at an estimated investment of Rs.110,000crorein 2016 with joint efforts of the Government of Maharashtra and MCHI-Credai.
The MCHI-Credai has pledged that it will make endeavours to play the role of a facilitator and encourage its members to take up construction of affordable houses within projects. Speaking on the occasion, Jain said, “This MOU would go a long way in addressing the issue of acute shortage of quality affordable housing in Mumbai and MMR.”
