UP RERA Recovers ₹1,410 Cr Against 5,700 Recovery Certificates

Lucknow/Gautam Budh Nagar, July 25, 2025: UP RERA has increased the recovery of amounts payable to the allottees against recovery certificates issued in lieu of its orders passed on complaints of the allottees since August 2023.
So far, INR 1,410 crore in 5,700 matters has been recovered of which INR 861 crore in 3,053 matters has been recovered between August 2023 and July 15—61 per cent of the total amount recovered so far.
Per UP RERA, INR 380 crore was recovered in 2023, INR 463 crore in 2024 and INR 251 crore in 2025 so far. Besides direct recovery via District magistrates (DMs), around 1,650 recovery certificates were settled mutually between promoters and allottees.
The Authority also ensured settlement in another 8,500 matters having estimated value of INR 3,320 crore involving refund and possession during the execution proceedings or through its conciliation forums established at Lucknow and Greater Noida.
In total, the claims of 15,850 allottee-complainants amounting to INR 5,180 crore have been discharged/settled either through the recovery or through settlement between promoters and allottees or settlement between parties during the enforcement proceedings before the RERA Benches or through conciliation before the Conciliation Forum.

According to Sanjay Bhoosreddy, Chairman, UP RERA, the increase in recoveries has been ensured through monthly reviews by the concerned DMs and also by applying pressure on defaulting promoters. The Authority’s recovery approach has been praised by the Centre.
