Yogi Adityanath Lays Foundation Stone For CEL–ESDS Green Data Centre in Sahibabad

Sahibabad, June 29, 2025: UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath and minister of state (independent charge) Jitendra Singh laid the foundation stone for CEL–ESDS Green Data Centre in Sahibabad on Thursday. The facility is the result of a strategic partnership between Central Electronics Limited (CEL) and ESDS Software Solution Ltd. designed to deliver digital infrastructure in the state.
Adityanath said that this data centre would not only enhance UP’s digital capabilities but also serve as a decisive step towards Atmanirbhar Bharat. Built entirely in India, this modern infrastructure aims to strengthen data security, transparency and service delivery for citizens. He emphasised that the initiative will generate employment for youth and contribute to India’s journey towards digital sovereignty.
CEL, known for its focus on innovation, sustainability and national progress, felt the need for a high-performance data centre that is intended to be energy-efficient, secure and aligned with India’s digital and environmental goals. Establishing the data centre at its Sahibabad campus is a step forward in that vision.

The green data centre on our Sahibabad campus is a strategic leap into digital infrastructure, designed to be energy-efficient, secure and future-ready,” said Chetan Prakash Jain, CMD, CEL.
“Through our collaboration with ESDS, we are merging sustainability with advanced cloud and data centre technologies to support India’s digital and environmental priorities. With modular PODs, smart cooling and a 30 MW capacity, this facility will serve as a vital engine for Uttar Pradesh’s digital economy and India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat mission.”
UP is fast emerging as a hub of digital infrastructure. CEL’s Green Data Centre will boost this momentum by creating skilled jobs, promoting local innovation and attracting startups, enterprises, and government users.
Built on performance, sustainability and security, the facility will offer:
- Modular PODs for high-density computing
- 30 MW capacity, scalable to 200 racks per floor
- Smart cooling and reflective roofing
- Rainwater harvesting and energy-efficient design
- 40 Gbps ring fibre with multi-ISP support
- Dual 10 Gbps links for cloud and DR replication
The collaboration with ESDS, one of leading cloud and data centre services providers with 19-plus years of experience, has been crucial to this project’s success. ESDS’s patented technologies and managed services ensure the facility meets global benchmarks while supporting national missions.

“This data centre is designed to be Tier III/TIA/Uptime Compliant in Sahibabad, in Uttar Pradesh, and is designed for 200 high-density racks per floor, 30 MW capacity and 40 Gbps connectivity,” said Piyush Somani, CMD and CEO, ESDS.
