Greater Noida, March 31, 2026: In a significant boost to the health and well-being of frontline sanitation workers, a specialized eye screening and health camp was organized today at the Sector 36 Community Hall under the “Safai Mitra Sarthak” initiative. The program, a collaborative effort between the Anubhuti Welfare Foundation (AWF) and the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA), was supported by the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) wing of itel, a prominent Indian technology brand. According to a press release, the camp saw active participation from 150 Safai Mitras representing six different zones across Greater Noida.

The initiative was specifically designed to address vision-related complications frequently experienced by sanitation staff due to constant exposure to dust, waste, and harsh outdoor environments. During the comprehensive examinations conducted by medical professionals, 145 workers were identified as requiring corrective spectacles to improve their work efficiency and safety. Additionally, five individuals were diagnosed with more serious ocular conditions and were immediately referred for specialized medical consultations to ensure they receive timely treatment.

The event was attended by senior officials, including Gaurav Baghel, Assistant Manager of Health & Horticulture, and Neeraj Chauhan, Sanitary Inspector. Speaking on the importance of the intervention, Gaurav Baghel stated, “Access to preventive healthcare is important for frontline sanitation workers. This initiative ensures early detection of vision-related issues and helps address concerns that may otherwise go unnoticed. Clear vision directly contributes to safer working conditions and better efficiency in daily tasks. I appreciate this collaborative effort to prioritise the well-being of Safai Mitras.”

The spokesperson for itel emphasized that the brand’s commitment to “Bharat” extends beyond digital connectivity to community welfare. Highlighting the goal of the partnership, the spokesperson said, “itel has long been recognised as a trusted brand of Bharat, and this trust extends beyond our technology to our commitment to communities. Our partnership with Anubhuti Welfare Foundation under the Safai Mitra Sarthak initiative reflects our focus on supporting the well-being of Safai Mitras. Through the Eye Health Camp, we aim to enable better vision, improved safety, and a better quality of life for frontline sanitation workers.”

Beyond the clinical screenings, the camp served as an awareness platform to educate workers on preventive eye care and the necessity of using protective gear during their shifts. By providing these essential services, the Safai Mitra Sarthak initiative seeks to ensure that the individuals responsible for maintaining urban cleanliness are afforded the healthcare and dignity essential to their demanding roles.
