CREDAI Relocates NATCON 2026 to India Following Prime Minister’s National Appeal

New Delhi, May 13, 2026: In a direct response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal for national fiscal responsibility, the Confederation of Real Estate Developers’ Associations of India (CREDAI) has announced it will shift its 24th annual NATCON convention from Amsterdam to a domestic venue. The decision aligns with the Prime Minister’s call to limit non-essential foreign travel and conserve foreign exchange amid shifting geopolitical tensions in West Asia. By relocating the flagship event, CREDAI aims to funnel the convention’s significant economic impact into the Indian hospitality and tourism sectors rather than international markets, CREDAI said in a press release.
The move marks a significant departure for the convention, which traditionally selects an international destination to host its 1,000-plus delegation of developers, investors, and policymakers. CREDAI leadership emphasized that the shift reflects a “Nation First” approach, intending to support domestic economic resilience during a period of global uncertainty. While preparations for the Amsterdam event had been underway for six months, the association determined that the real estate sector—a primary engine for employment—must demonstrate collective responsibility by keeping spending within the country.

Commenting on the transition, Shekhar Patel, President of CREDAI, said, “At a time when the Hon’ble Prime Minister has called upon citizens and industries to act responsibly and prioritise national interest amid the evolving geopolitical situation, CREDAI believes it is important for the real estate sector, as one of the country’s largest employment-generating industries, to align with this vision and demonstrate collective responsibility during this important time for the nation. While preparations for NATCON had been underway for over six months and the industry was fully prepared to travel to Amsterdam this August, CREDAI felt it was important to take cognisance of the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s appeal and the prevailing national sentiment.”
The relocation also comes as the industry grapples with localized economic pressures, including the surging costs of raw materials and widespread labor shortages. CREDAI intends for the domestic convention to serve as a platform for addressing these challenges while showcasing India’s own infrastructure and urban development milestones. A specific Indian host city and revised schedule for NATCON 2026 are expected to be announced shortly.
Reinforcing the necessity of the shift, Patel added, “The industry is currently navigating significant challenges, including rising construction costs driven by escalating prices of cement, steel, and other critical raw materials, along with persistent labour shortages impacting project execution across markets. In this environment, it becomes even more important for all sectors to collectively contribute towards strengthening the domestic economy in line with the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s appeal.”
