UP RERA Launches Major Homebuyer Awareness Drive in Meerut Division to Promote Safe Real Estate Investments
Lucknow, July 23, 2026: The Uttar Pradesh Real Estate Regulatory Authority (UP RERA) organized an interactive awareness workshop for homebuyers at Chaudhary Charan Singh University in Meerut on Friday, July 23, 2026. Chaired virtually by UP RERA Chairman Sanjay Bhoosreddy, the program aimed to educate buyers across the Meerut Division on the provisions of the RERA Act, their statutory rights, and best practices for securing real estate investments, UP RERA said in a press release.
Addressing the gathering, UP RERA Chairman Sanjay Bhoosreddy said, “The Authority’s objective is not only to resolve disputes but also to educate homebuyers about their legal rights and responsibilities. When consumers make decisions with complete information, they can protect their investments more effectively.”
He urged prospective buyers to thoroughly verify all details on the official RERA portal before committing funds and to reach out to the authority without delay if disputes arise, adding that UP RERA remains committed to developing a transparent, accountable, and consumer-friendly real estate ecosystem in the state.
During the session, UP RERA Principal Advisor Abrar Ahmad delivered a comprehensive visual presentation detailing the critical legal safeguards available to buyers. The presentation outlined key pre-investment checks, instructing participants to verify a project’s RERA registration validity, approved layout plans, land title documents, proposed timelines, and designated project bank accounts rather than relying on promotional advertisements. Officials also stressed the importance of maintaining proper documentation post-purchase—including the allotment letter, Agreement for Sale, and payment receipts—noting that these records form the primary legal foundation in dispute resolution.
The workshop detailed the specific legal entitlements guaranteed under the RERA Act, such as receiving transparent project updates, executing agreements in prescribed formats, taking timely possession, and claiming interest or refunds for delays. Attendees were guided on the formal process of filing grievances through Form M and Form N in cases involving misleading ads, unauthorized plan modifications, or unregistered agents. A dedicated interactive session allowed homebuyers to raise queries regarding project delays, refunds, and promoter responsibilities, which were answered directly by UP RERA leadership.
The event saw active participation from senior regional administrative leaders, including Meerut District Magistrate Dr. Vijay Kumar Singh and Meerut Development Authority Vice Chairman Sanjay Kumar Meena, alongside senior UP RERA officials including Secretary Mahendra Verma, Technical Advisor Sanjay Tiwari, Financial Consultant Sudhanshu Tripathi, Revenue Officer Meenakshi Dwivedi, System Analyst Ganesh Mishra, Media Consultant Pranjal Dixit, and Dr. Akash Yadav. Following the success of the session, UP RERA announced plans to conduct similar divisional-level awareness drives across Uttar Pradesh to continually empower buyers and build a safer investment climate.
