UP RERA Organizes Mega Consumer Awareness Campaign for Gorakhpur Division

Lucknow, May 30, 2026: The Uttar Pradesh Real Estate Regulatory Authority (UP RERA) organized an interactive communication and awareness workshop on Friday at the Circuit House in Gorakhpur. The initiative aimed to educate homebuyers about their rights, interests, and the provisions of the RERA Act. UP RERA Chairman Sanjay Bhoosreddy presided over the significant event for the Gorakhpur division via video conferencing, UP RERA said in a press release.
During the workshop, UP RERA Principal Advisor Abrar Ahmed delivered a detailed PowerPoint presentation via video conferencing. He thoroughly informed homebuyers about their rights under the RERA Act, necessary precautions before investing, essential documentation, the grievance redressal mechanism, and specific circumstances under which they should approach RERA. Ahmed emphasized that an informed buyer is the best defense against fraud and unnecessary project delays.

Addressing the participants, UP RERA Chairman Sanjay Bhoosreddy outlined the broader vision of the regulatory body. He stated, “The objective of RERA is not only to resolve disputes but also to make homebuyers aware of their rights and provide them with a safe and transparent real estate environment.” He added that an aware consumer can effectively protect their investment and urged buyers to verify all project details on the RERA portal before investing. He assured that “UP RERA is continuously taking effective steps to ensure transparency, accountability, and the protection of consumer interests in the real estate sector in Uttar Pradesh.”
Attendees were educated on critical pre-investment checks, including verifying a project’s RERA registration number, validity, approved maps, promoter land ownership documents, progress reports, proposed completion dates, bank accounts, and promoter track records. The authority also stressed the importance of monitoring projects post-booking and safely maintaining records like the Agreement for Sale, allotment letters, and payment receipts, as these documents play a vital role in protecting buyer rights during future disputes.
The workshop detailed homebuyers’ legal entitlements, including the right to transparent information, executing agreements in the prescribed RERA format, timely possession and registry, interest on delays, refunds for non-service, and compensation for misleading advertisements. Experts also explained the grievance filing process using Form-M and Form-N, advising buyers to directly approach UP RERA if promoters demand unauthorized charges, make illegal layout alterations, or cancel allotments unlawfully.
The event concluded with an interactive Q&A session where Chairman Sanjay Bhoosreddy and Principal Advisor Abrar Ahmed resolved buyer queries regarding delays, possession, refunds, and promoter accountability. The high-profile workshop saw virtual participation from senior regional officials, including Gorakhpur Divisional Commissioner Anil Dhingra, District Magistrate Deepak Meena, and GDA Vice-Chairman Abhinav Gopal, alongside a panel of senior legal, financial, and technical advisors from the RERA headquarters.
