CommonFloor initiative for flood victims in Chennai
To help the people in flood-ravaged Chennai, real estate portal CommonFloor has launched an initiative – ‘We Are With Chennai’ which comprises two activities i.e. ‘Need For Shelter’ and ‘Provide For Shelter. In the ‘Need for Shelter’, anyone stuck in any part of Chennai, can look for nearby areas / houses. All those who are willing to help by providing shelter can share their details at CommonFloor site via ‘Provide for Shelter’.
According to a press release, CommonFloor.com and its Twitter page have become epicenter for crowdsourcing all kinds of information: including adding requests for rescue, offers for shelter, listing of homes for shelter, info on affected as well as safe areas to travel etc.
Speaking on the importance of this initiative, Sumit Jain, CEO & Co-founder CommonFloor, said, “ ‘WeAreWithChennai’ is our endeavour to provide readily available data to relief-seekers stuck in Chennai floods and also it gives a platform to users to participate in providing shelter to people in need. At CommonFloor we would like to extend our technology and real-estate platform to provide help to the people of Chennai.”
CommonFloor has also allocated 2,000 free SMS credits to all apartment association accounts of CommonFloor Groups their apartment management platform and tool so that they can reach out to residents and communicate important messages.
