LIXIL acquires Star Alubuild in India; forms LIXIL Window Systems Private Ltd.
New Delhi, April 26, 2018: LIXIL, maker of pioneering water and housing products, has set up a new entity, LIXIL Windows Systems Private Ltd., after it had acquired 100 percent stake in DLF subsidiary, Star Alubuild Pvt. Ltd, a curtain wall builder for commercial properties in India. LIXIL Windows System (LWS) plans to service both retail and projects segments of the building materials market in India.
In line with the Government of India’s ‘Make in India’ vision, LIXIL will manufacture products for Retail Business locally in their Manesar factory in India. This facility will cater to the market for premium homes and villas in India which require customized products and short delivery time frames.
The Projects business segment of the company will import products from its Tostem Thai Co. Ltd. (TTC) facility in Thailand. This model will be best suited for large residential projects which require well engineered products, from a single source. This will also ensure last mile quality since the windows are pre-engineered (supplied in a box) making assembly and installation at site quick and easy.
Commenting on the development, Mr. Bijoy Mohan, CEO LIXIL Asia Pacific said, “Asia is the key growth engine for LIXIL globally. As Asia fuels the residential demand in the world and the burgeoning middle class becomes a catalyst in the housing sector; India and its people –that aspire for better homes- become a key focus of our growth journey.
With this acquisition, our aim is to bring LIXIL’s international expertise in making windows to the Indian market and provide a wide variety of choice and best in class quality products to the Indian consumers. We will provide the Indian consumer the technology, finesse and comfort that come with all our products.
We are committed to India and will continue to make strategic investments to further consolidate our position in this fast-growing market.”
Speaking on the business model, Mr. Sandeep Mathur, General Manager & Director, LIXIL Window Systems said, “The current outlook of the industry is optimistic. We plan to offer a full bundle of solutions to every segment of market. The fact that we will be manufacturing the finished window and not follow fabricator route will ensure consistency and reliability of quality far ahead of the existing industry standards.”
LIXIL had acquired a controlling 100% stake in Star Alubuild India in March 2016 and shifted the business from ‘building facades’ to ‘windows’.
